The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) marked a significant milestone in its global development journey with the official launch of its academic partnership with the University of Surrey, United Kingdom—an alliance poised to expand international opportunities and elevate the standards of healthcare education in Sri Lanka.
A high-level delegation from the University of Surrey visited the IIHS Multiversity campus to commemorate the partnership and strengthen collaborative initiatives between the two institutions. The visiting team comprised Mr. Nick Moore, Director of Academic Performance, Quality and Governance of the Education Office; Dr. Svetlana Reston, Head of Academic Policy and Governance, Directorate of Academic Performance, Quality and Governance; and Dr. Wendy Grosvenor, Academic Link Tutor at the University of Surrey.
During their visit, the delegation toured IIHS’s state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, met with academic staff and students, and engaged in in-depth discussions with the leadership team on expanding academic pathways, enhancing curriculum quality, and reinforcing student support systems. Their presence underscored the University of Surrey’s strong commitment to fostering global academic partnerships and supporting IIHS in aligning its programmes with international benchmarks. The launch of this collaboration sets the stage for joint academic development, quality assurance enhancement, and strengthened governance practices across shared programmes.
The visit concluded with a warm farewell ceremony, where IIHS presented tokens of appreciation to the representatives from Surrey in recognition of their contributions to this growing partnership. The gesture symbolized the mutual respect, shared ambition, and long-term commitment both institutions have toward shaping globally competent healthcare professionals.
This landmark collaboration signals the beginning of a new era in Sri Lanka’s healthcare education landscape—one built on international cooperation, academic excellence, and a shared vision to empower the next generation of global healthcare leaders.
