This course is intended for graduates of Physiotherapy who wish to professionally upgrade to Masters level following the completion of their undergraduate Physiotherapy course, seeking academic uplift to improve and develop their role within the physiotherapy profession in Sri Lanka. The course aims to provide a coherent program of study relevant to current physiotherapy practice to meet the needs of individuals and employers at a national and international level and to offer a course that explores and supports individuals to extend their knowledge and professional expertise in physiotherapy. The course is delivered by the School of Physiotherapy at the International Institute of Health Sciences (Pvt) Ltd Sri Lanka and supported by the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University.
Students will acquire:
1. Skills, concepts and knowledge related to advanced physiotherapy practice to strengthen a career in Physiotherapy;
2. Effective written and oral communication skills;
3. The ability to evaluate clinical practice;
4. Appropriate intellectual skills, in order to meet the demands of a more advanced professional role;
5. Recognition of the importance of research and the evaluation of clinical outcomes in the development of professional knowledge and practice;
6 The ability to contribute to the continued professional development of clinical colleagues;
7. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning evidence-based physiotherapy;
8. The ability to reflect and apply theoretical knowledge to physiotherapy practice;
9. The ability to critically analyze relevant literature;
10. The ability to plan, conduct, write up and justify an in-depth project relating to a specific area of academic and clinical interest.
Recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka.
After completion of the Masters of Physiotherapy, students can follow their PhD of Physiotherapy or any healthcare related fields.
