Professional Bachelors in Food & Environmental Science
This program is intended for Public Health Inspectors to equip themselves with a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between food systems, environmental factors, and human health. This interdisciplinary program integrates principles from public health, environmental science, food safety, and nutrition to address contemporary challenges in safeguarding public health and promoting environmental sustainability.
- Understanding Environmental Health: Provide students with a solid foundation in the principles of environmental health, including the assessment and management of environmental factors that impact human health.
- Food Safety and Quality Assurance: Equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the safety and quality of food.
- Public Health Perspectives: Explore the role of food and environmental health in the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as the promotion of community well-being and resilience.
- Regulatory Compliance: Familiarize students with national and international regulations, standards, and guidelines governing food safety, environmental protection, and public health.
- Research and Analysis: Develop students’ ability to collect and analyze data, and apply research findings to address real-world issues in food and environmental health.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Introduce students to risk assessment methodologies and strategies for identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with foodborne pathogens, environmental contaminants, and other hazards.
- Communication and Advocacy: Enhance students’ communication skills for effectively conveying scientific information to diverse audiences, as well as advocating for evidence-based policies and interventions to promote food and environmental health.
