The program covers all areas in how the human body functions at all levels, how to apply your knowledge of health and disease to real-life situations and discovers how humans interact with and respond to their environment. The course content span a wide range of scientific disciplines including biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, pathobiology, data analysis and genetics providing students with a solid foundation to specialize in any area of biomedical science of their interest. Specialization areas include Genetics and Molecular Biology, Forensics Biology and Toxicology, Clinical Laboratory Science and many more. Biomedical Science at our affiliated universities covers the science underpinning medical applications, from basic biology to specific disease processes to provide students with a thorough understanding of human biology and health, with an emphasis on the cause, diagnosis and treatment of disease at the molecular, cellular and system levels. At the completion of the Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Science students will have a thorough understanding of the theoretical aspects as well as practical aspects of all the areas which he/she can specialize as a Biomedical Scientist.
A graduate in Biomedical Sciences typically will have the ability to:
Registered in Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), Sri Lanka
After following 2 year program of the Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Science, students can follow 1 year program of Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree offered by Coventry University.
