21st BioInquirer – Technical Conference 2022

The 21st BioInquirer Technical conference was a successful event contributing to the community of health sector professionals. BioInquirer research forum throughout the years showcased an exceptional quality of research publications within the health sector. Since its launch in 2015 by International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS), the standard of the abstracts submitted has been set and monitored via yearly classified themes. This year’s theme was on “Global Nurse: Influencing the Future of Healthcare”. The focus topics discussed are Nursing Education and Nursing Informatics which were presented by globally renowned international and local healthcare professional panelists sharing their insights on two different topics held on the 29th and 30th of July 2022 which had more than 1,200 participants physically and virtually. 21st BioInquirer – Technical Conference was organized by the Scientific Committee of IIHS in collaboration with Coventry University UK, James Cook University Australia (JCU), The Ohio State University, National Health Services UK (NHS), Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health (CWCDH), Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation (CWNMF) and International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS).

We were honored to have with us Dr. Amal Harsha (Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs) as the chief guest for the 21st BioInquirer. Dr. Harsha shared his thoughts about the ‘Contribution to Nursing Education by IIHS’.

The introduction to the event was delivered by Dr. Kithsiri Edirisighe (Co-Founder/ Director Academics-IIHS). It was also a privilege to have Prof. Vajira Dissanayake – Dean, Faculty of Medicine Senior Professor (Chair), Department of Anatomy, Genetics and Biomedical Informatics, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Chairperson Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health to speak about the “Importance of CWDH and the partnership between CWDH, CU, and IIHS. He further elaborated on the MOU signed between the Commonwealth Centre and IIHS where he looks forward to enabling to take forward the programs to the Commonwealth and beyond. He went on to commend the importance of the partnership that IIHS has with Coventry University UK. The keynote speaker Professor Michael Ackerman – Ph.D., RN, Clinical Professor, Director, Master of Healthcare Innovation, Director, Centre for Healthcare Innovation and Leadership – The Ohio State University shared his views about the 4 pillars of the academic world, practice world, regulatory world and research and evidence-based practice.  Prof. Ackerman also speaks about a new paradigm, the competency-based education adaptive clinical model where he discussed the change in the traditional model of nursing education to a more competency-based.
